The PTCB exam consists of 90 multiple-choice questions, divided as follows:

  • 80 scored questions were used in the final score calculation.
  • 10 unscored questions, randomly placed throughout the exam, which do not impact the final score.

Final scores are determined solely from responses to the 80 scored questions. By using scaled scoring, the PTCB ensures that all candidates are assessed on a level playing field, even if they encounter different test forms.

While candidates often aim for a percentage-based goal, scaling makes it difficult to predict the exact number of correct answers required to pass. Typically, answering about 66% of the questions correctly might result in a passing score, though this is not guaranteed.

    Bring your admission ticket or confirmation receipt to validate your exam appointment. This is essential for a smooth check-in process.

At the test center, plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time to complete the check-in process. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may disqualify and forfeit your exam fee. Once checked in, personal belongings like bags, phones, and smartwatches must be stored in a designated locker, and all candidates will go through a security scan. Only permitted items will be allowed inside the testing area.
